Tell a Muni Story, Win $100 From Seedstore

Tell a 1-2 minute Muni story on stage during the audience portion of Muni Diaries Live this Friday and you might win one of the great prizes from one of our sponsors. These prizes will rock the pants off any Muni rider (hopefully not literally).

Seedstore, the impeccably curated boutique in the Inner Richmond, is giving the best audience storyteller an $100 gift certificate to the store. You can use it toward any of the goodies at the store, like Joe’s Jeans, dresses from Free People, Pendleton blankets, and lots of other brands for men and women. Seedstore has a lot of love for the Inner Richmond neighborhood, which features prominently in their lookbook:

And…

Yup. Fashion shoot at a Muni shelter! Seedstore also has a blog where you can keep up with the latest happenings at the shop.

So, get your story ready for the audience portion of Muni Diaries Live this Friday so you can win this Seedstore gift certificate.

Stay tuned for more prize information this week. Tomorrow: Chrome Bags.

Cool Idea: Muni Media Map Project

Intent on a book riding MUNI's 38 Geary

Rachel Cassandra from the art collective Revel Art wants to know: how do you feel about your Muni line? She is looking for artists to create work inspired by their Muni line, which will later be a part of a multimedia exhibit. Of course this idea is right up our alley. (And bonus points from me because Revel Art installed a great community altar at the Day of the Dead parade, my favorite San Francisco activity. Watch the time-lapse video on Revel Art‘s website.)

Details from Rachel Cassandra:

The Muni Media Map:

What: A multi-media exhibit featuring work inspired by each of the Muni Bus/Train Lines accompanied by a giant, wall-sized map referencing each piece.
Want: We want you to choose a Muni line, and explore it through any medium you choose: dance, baking, portraiture, video, photography, prose, sound, and more!
How to submit: Fill out this handy Proposal Survey or the Call for Submissions form. Email Rachel Cassandra for an address if you want to go the snail mail route.
Other important stuff: We want to represent as many lines as possible, so we’re only allotting one project per line, unless you would like to collaborate. We’ll assign routes as they come in, so send us your submission soon.
The Big Show: The Muni Media Map exhibit will be shown on Saturday, May 28th at the Schoolhouse as part of the 100 Days of Spring show!

Play ball! SFMTA: Ride Muni to AT&T Park

A Parade For The World Champion San Francisco Giants

We relayed a message from SFMTA a few weeks ago about taking Muni to the ballgame. But now, things are different. We’re a mere 13 hours away from welcoming our very own World Series champs back to their home stadium, as the San Francisco Giants prepare to battle the St. Louis Cardinals in their first regular-season home game in 2011 tomorrow at 1:35 p.m.

So once again, SFMTA is urging you to consider not driving to the game, but instead taking Muni, a cab, or bicycle to AT&T Park. Oh, and eat hella garlic fries and sandwiches from Crazy Crab’z, also, too.

Go, Giants!

Baseball begins today — will you ride Muni to AT&T Park?

Last week, SFMTA asked San Francisco Giants fans to consider riding Muni to baseball games this year. Tonight’s exhibition game against the Oakland A’s is your first chance.

Muni Diaries is officially in the bag for our hometown 2010 World Series champs, and we gladly welcome the beginning of the 2011 season. And we’re all for riding Muni when possible and realistic.

We wanna know: Will you be taking Muni to the games? Or will you be one of the many pissed-off, non-baseball fan throngs who huff and puff and curse Muni and all things baseball beginning around this time each year? Let us know!
