Muni Adbusted Yet Again: Du Beers

Well lookee there. What started out as a one-off Tuesday morning on Muni Diaries seems to be in the midst of going viral locally.

Previously, we brought you “Cum Tums” and “Fartine.” The local internet happened upon another: an ad for “Du Beers”(diamonds), with the adbusted ad slogan, “Slanging blowjobs since 1927.” That’s a lot of diamonds, a lot of money, and a lot of blowjobs. Eighty-five years’ worth, in fact.

It’s becoming clear that this is a concerted effort by someone or some group. Maybe the assholes who smashed windows in the Mission a couple of weeks ago have taken up non-violent protest? In any case, carry on, y’alls!

Fun Tonight: Drinking/Songs, A Night of Beer and Music That Goes With It

Tonight, Muni Diaries Live alum Chloe Veltman is hosting a night of beer tasting and drinking songs at 50 Mason Social Club. You might remember Chloe from the last Muni Diaries Live show where she and her friends sang a transit-inspired madrigal.

Chloe is the host of public radio’s Voice Box. At tonight’s event, you can sample seven Dogfish Head beers inspired by brewing traditions around the world, and hear music associated with each ale. Also featured is a live discussion with singers Justin Montigne and Jesse Antin, and cicerone Sayre Piotrkowski (The Monk’s Kettle).

Muni Adbusters Strike Again

Yesterday, we saw them take on antacid and, well, everyone’s sex lives. This time, it’s local pretentious/delicious eateries. What’s next?

The “ad” reads: “Fartine Bakery Cafe. Wait in line five hours to buy a fucking donut.”

Bone to pick: They’re pastries, not donuts.

Update: What’s next? Looks like we have a spree of spoof ads on Muni! Readers pointed us to Du Beers and some fine Marines. Seen more? Send it our way!

Today, SFMTA reminds us of some upcoming service disruptions on several lines.

Construction for the Church and Duboce Track and Street Improvement Project and the Carl Street Rail Replacement Project will require bus shuttle substitution on the N-Judah Line, disruption to the J-Church Line, reroutes of several bus routes and traffic detours over multiple days…

… the multi-day shutdown is slated to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 25, and end at 5 a.m. on Monday, June 4. It will require a shutdown of the N-Judah Line, a partial shutdown of the J-Church and reroutes on the 22-Fillmore, 37-Corbett, 43-Masonic and N-Owl routes…

Summary of transit and traffic impacts:
· The N Judah will be shutdown with substitute bus service provided from Ocean Beach to Van Ness Avenue.
· The bus service will vary between weekdays and weekends
· NX service unchanged
· J Church Line to operate between Balboa Park and Market/Church streets
· Major reroute of the 22 Fillmore
· Other minor reroutes of 37 Corbett, 43 Masonic and N Owl service
· Residents, merchants and Muni customers can also expect street and bike lane closures and detours during the construction.
· Bike detours will be in place for the Wiggle, the Steiner/Sanchez route and the connector route between the Wiggle and Market Street.
· Parking restrictions will be in effect.
· Traffic control officers and police officers will direct traffic at critical intersections.
· Noise and dust will be controlled in adherence with city codes.
· Electronic messaging boards will be used in affected areas to alert motorists and cyclists of detours.

More details of this “long shutdown” can be found on SFMTA’s website. Plan accordingly!
