Your Weekend Transit Advisory: Critical Mass, Giants baseball, Asthma Walk, Union Street Spring Celebration

Critical Mass
On Friday at 6 p.m., the Critical Mass bicycle ride will begin at Justin Herman Plaza.

There will be heavy traffic in the area. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time.

San Francisco Giants Baseball Game
The San Francisco Giants will continue their pre-season games against the Oakland Athletics on Friday at 7:15 p.m. at AT&T Park. For more details, please see separate release or visit www.sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com.

Asthma Walk
On Saturday, Asthma Walk from Gilman Park to Candlestick Park will take place between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Traffic around the event venue may be heavy, motorists should allow extra travel time. SF Police Department personnel will be on site to monitor traffic in the event area.

Muni route 29 Sunset will be affected.

Union Street Spring Celebration
On Sunday the 22nd Union Street Spring Celebration will take place on Union Street between Gough and Fillmore streets from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

At 2 p.m. the parade will begin on Green Street, then proceed north on Gough Street, west on Union Street, north on Fillmore Street and east onto Filbert Street where the parade will disband.

The following Muni routes will be affected:
· 22 Fillmore
· 30 Stockton
· 45 Union-Stockton

Update, Thursday, 10:49 a.m.: According to SF Appeal, the fatality appears to have been a suicide. Go to SF Appeal to learn more.

Original post (Wednesday): A man was found under the BART train in Glen Park and pronounced dead at the scene, reports the Contra Costa Times. Police and paramedics arrived on the scene around 3:52 p.m. today, according to the Contra Costa Times report. The man’s identity has not been released, and police did not have details about how the man ended up under the train.

Your Weekend Transit Advisory: Transit lane pilot, Spring Break Muni schedule

Transit-Only Lane Pilot Project
From Saturday to Tuesday, the SFMTA will apply red paint on the track lane on Church Street for the “Transit-Only Lane” pilot project.

No traffic will be allowed on the track lane for both northbound and southbound Church Street between Duboce and 15th streets while painting is in progress.

On Saturday, Church Street between Duboce and Market streets will be painted. From 5 a.m., Saturday to 1 a.m., Sunday, J Church line will not operate in the subway. Inbound J Church customers continuing downtown will need to transfer from the stop on Church Street south of Market to Metro service in the Church Street Station. Outbound J Line customers should take a K Ingleside, L Taraval or M Ocean View train to Church Street Station.

On Sunday, Church Street between Market and 15th streets will be painted. J Church line will run on usual route. Bus stops served on Island will be moved to the curb. The following Muni routes will run on curb lane and will serve all stops:
· 22 Fillmore
· 37 Corbett

Church Street between 15th and 16th streets will be painted on the nights of Monday and Tuesday. Track lane on Church Street between 15th and 16th streets will be closed to traffic for painting and drying from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Reminder of Spring Break Muni Schedule
Effective Monday, Muni will implement minor daytime frequency adjustments due to a lower ridership during spring break week. For more details, please see separate release attached.
