Rider Steve sent in this photo. He said, “This probably isn’t funny. But it was hilarious after I’d been drinking for a while.” Heh. I thought it was pretty funny too, and I haven’t even had my coffee yet.

Apparently no one who snapped photos of this Muni rolling around Mission, Valencia, and Guerrero between 24th &17th sent them in. We parked it on the plaza in Dolores for a miniMuni dance party. And then I broke my ankle, which is pretty much unrelated, but hence the delay in sending this.

BART started our week off with 24 hours of service. Not too shabby a way to start a week on BARTDiaries, I say. This week in BART news:
– S.F. transportation costs lower than other suburbs (via SFGate)

– BART staves off loss of state funds for now (via SFWeekly)

Warm nights this week led to many great dress-up opportunities like the Dia de los Muertos parade, which, by the way, is going to be my favorite event of the year every year now. Enjoy these photos and your weekend. And send more BART stories our way!

On October 11th, a dozen drag queens and kings descended on Market Street for the Hoku Mama Swamp Drag Parade. Starting at the Powell Turnaround, we performed drag numbers to a boom box and marched around the swarms of tourists giving them an eye full of realness. We went up and down the escalators in the Westfield Mall and marched up Powell and down Turk to stop at Aunt Charlie’s.
Then the Muni fun began because we all piled onto an F train heading to the Castro at 6th and Market.
No homophobic or transphobic comments were made, probably because of the sheer number and size of us.
Then, after exiting the F Train we did a few more drag numbers at the 17th and Castro plaza, followed by the Bank of America Plaza and ending at the Edge for more booze.
