Man tries to get a pony on board U.K. train

Sounds like the first line of a joke, but it actually happened.

Amy at Tiny Rides alerts us to the story of a mysterious man who’s been spotted with his white pony in the Wrexham, North Wales, train station. The video above is taken from the security camera at the station. The pair has also been spotted at hospital and pub, to put it Britishly.

We’ve published many posts showing non-human passengers on Muni. But we’ve never seen one you could potentially use as transportation in lieu of the bus.

I thought for a minute that these bus riders were all holding up the same sign, but photog Robert B. Livingston explains that these were bus riders looking out to picketing hotel workers. The signs were simply a reflection.

God of Public Transit Lives Here

One of our favorite web peeps, the Tenderloin Geographic Society, found an awesome wood print by a friend who was doing a project at SFMOMA, now on display at Mission Cultural Center. For the project, artist Imin Yeh created an alternative Chinese New Year celebration, with museum visitors producing seemingly “auspicious” cultural objects.

The God of Public Transportation looks pretty auspicious to me. She’s got two bucks at the ready and kick-ass boots. And she’s riding the storied 38-Geary.

Was something in the air this morning on Muni?

We saw several tweets this morning mentioning friendly, efficient Muni operators. Perhaps the Rapture is today, not Saturday? In any case, we’re seeing staggering evidence of the world going kablooey any second now.

To whit:

Muni driver greeted me with a smile, “good morning sir, everything good today.”. #5578 rt. 30 you are an example. – @sgharms

I think I might have boarded Muni airline 30x. Busdriver said that we might expect sunny weather on the other side of the broadway tunnel. – @bmson

This #Muni driver is entirely too cheery for his AM 30x clientele. Not complaining–it beats the usual driver surliness. – @sfkatya

After I filled out a scathing survey on MUNI, this lovely T-Line driver waited for me as I ran for the train. Karma? – @katinaminer

This makes us wonder: If the operators union were to craft a totally coordinated, skillfully executed PR campaign to be friendly and efficient, would it change your opinion of the system as a whole?
