Muni appears in tattoo declaring love of San Francisco

F-Market_tattoo

Hot on the heels of our post yesterday about a guy whose tattoo honors his Muni-driving grandfather, Muni rider Matt sent us the following explanation.

Keeping with the theme of Muni tattoos, here’s another one to add to your collection.

I’m a transplant but fell in love with this city immediately upon moving here. I’ve decided I’ll die here one day. My sleeve is a tribute to the things in the city that played a part in my swooning for SF. The F line is one of the coolest things ever.

It’s not the first F-Market tattoo we’ve seen: This post was about an F-Market tattoo with the words, “The city is my sweetheart” inscribed below the streetcar.

Keep ’em coming, Muni and SF lovers!

Tattoo honors Muni driver grandfather

This blows me away on so many levels. I’ll just leave it here for you to be blown away by.

“William Ochoa, popular driver of the Municipal Railway’s No. 37-Corbett line, was named the June “Muni Man” of the month yesterday. Ochoa, 49, who holds two safe-driving awards, join the [sic] Muni in 1947″

On Muni, Please hold on . . .

sleep_with_puppy

Please hold on, indeed: especially when the cargo is this precious. Sudden stops (of my HEART) might also be necessary. I don’t have anything for the “take one” sign, because as much as I’d like to, it might make this guy and his dog sad.

Many Muni riders say dog is their copilot on local transit. Some might even say cat is their copilot, while others might say “a motherfucking lizard is chilling on 6-Parnassus and thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster for making it so.”

NYC’s Etti-cat would be PURRfect for Muni

etticat15

From the good people at Gothamist (via Cute Overload), here’s proof that good transit manners and verbose tuxedo cats never go out of style.

Etti-Cat’s original purpose was apparently to discourage New York Subway graffiti in the early 1960s. Walking an arguably strange path from effect to cause, The Man said that this rampant graffiti was the result of the damned kids’ (so, our parents) smoking all the reefer.

Since BART is taking a stand against rude riders and Muni may address qualms over manspreading and other delights, I’d like to suggest stealing this idea, because people obviously care more about cats than infographics.

Not that we don’t have our own etiquette opinions, of course. It’s still bad form to do any kind of nail maintenance (be it filing, clipping, or polishing). Give up your seats for the elderly and the disabled (or even the “handicapped“). You’ll also make more friends if you refrain from disrobing on Muni.

Impromptu ‘Happy Birthday’ serenade on Muni

happy_bday

Admit it: All you really want out of life is for people to sing “Happy Birthday” to you all day every time it’s your birthday. Well, that plus cake and puppies. WE DON’T ASK FOR MUCH, you guys.

And so it happened, and Muni rider Chad was on the scene: “Girl on #sfmuni wants everyone to sing her Happy Birthday; impromptu band forms with personalized bday song #magic”

Way to avoid having to pay royalties, you dudes.

The happiest tweet about Muni pretty much ever

love_u

As much as people might like to vent about it, we managed to find what might be the happiest tweet that’s happened on Muni ever.

Muni rider Emily sent this very sweet moment our way: “A woman just proposed to her girlfriend on a crowded 24 bus. Couldn’t get a picture but it was really sweet.”

A proposal between two women on a crowded 24! Who says public transit is all kvetch?

Oh, and if you’re the lucky couple, please do send us your proposal story. The Muni Diaries inbox is hungry for some story nuggets!
