Tara Ramroop has laughed, cried, and commiserated with this amazing community from the start. She's been writing for as long as she can remember and riding Muni for more than a decade.

Muni Theft Thwarted, Name-Calling Ensues

100 Muni StoriesA thief scorned and a bitch praised:

@xxriabellaxx: A woman prevented a theft on 38L this morn. Thief called her a bitch b4 exiting. Bitch > thief. #100MuniStories

We in the Bay Area call that moted (alternately, moded).

There is still plenty of theft on Muni buses, but we’re proud to say that Muni riders have a way of helping one another out. In January, for example, Rachel thwarted an iPhone theft on this very same line.

You, too, could be featured in our 100 Days, 100 Muni Stories drive. Celebrate 100 years of Muni by telling us your story today. Email works or tweet to @munidiaries, hashtag #100MuniStories.

True Love Found on Muni

100 Muni StoriesAll kinds of things are found on Muni, including amoré:

@SheenaWakely: I noticed a guy on 31BX. 6 mo. later we met at the stop and have been together ever since. True love on Muni. Imagine that!

We sure can, and do. And, along with @SheenaWakely, we can prove it happens. Jen and Kevin met on the 1-California and had a Muni-themed wedding. A lost wallet sparked romance on the 33-Stanyan, another one of our 100 Days commemorative stories. We’re not only counting romantical love, either; hell yes to the please love back signs, imploring us all to spread you know what (NOT THAT).

Muniformer: More Than Meets the Eye

Well, that’s a new way to think about it.

From xxgabrielamaria on Instagram, we have this work-computer desktop image: an Upper Playground-branded Muniformer. I can definitely see this one beating down some Decipticons. If it shows up to the battle on time and all.

Not unlike the Alien vs. Predator debate (ALIEN), let’s consider whether Muniformer would truimph over the F-Market/Wharves superheroes. Something to ponder ahead of the weekend.

Pants, Check: Lost and Found on Muni

Photo: nelz9999

100 Muni StoriesSome of our favorite stories are those of lost and found. Love. Clipper Cards. Pants?

@Robbie_Lawrence‘s tweet tells a compelling, centennial-worthy tale in Twitter-size bites:

lost my pants and my wallet one night. Month later a homeless guy brought it to me saying was on 5-Fulton

Score one for humanity.

Bent out of Shape at Powell Street Station

Behold the coolest PR stunts you’ll ever see for a movie.

In connection with the Clean Socks Documentary Project, a film about the Mongolian art form of contortion, these folks sampled their bendiest moves at Powell Street Station recently.

You, too, will be amazed by these contortionists “getting [their] socks very dirty for a clean socks project.” Contribute to the Clean Socks Project Kickstarter if you love what you see.
