Muni rider Ryan spotted the slow-bleed death of a 44-O’Shaughnessy yesterday, and snapped a photo so you could all bear witness. Here’s what Ryan had to say:
The 44 bus had a transmission blow out [Thursday] morning at 7th and Lawton. That is blood red transmission fluid gushing out of the back of the bus
That is sad, is what it is. And awesome at the same time.

Via SF Weekly’s The Snitch, BART Diaries has learned of at least one iPhone owner who refused becoming another theft-victim:
“He hit me as hard as he could four times, and I just stood there, like dazed. I was like, you just got four free shots and you didn’t take me down. And then in a split second I decided I’m going to kill him. He unleashed the beast. I am basically 98-percent muscle, I’m a professional athlete, and all my muscle was on him. I pounced on him like a tiger.”

Ahead of today’s U.S. District Court ruling on Prop. 8 (OVERTURNED!), SFMTA posted when and where to expect delays this evening. Throngs of San Franciscans are expected to celebrate Judge Vaughn Walker’s ruling, which overturned the ban on same-sex marriage:
Due to a rally, there may be delays on the F Line and the 24, 35 and 37 routes in the vicinity of Castro and Market from 5 to 6 p.m.
Due to a march beginning at 6 p.m., Muni may be subject to delays on surface lines and routes along Market Street and in the Civic Center area.
* You’re probably thinking: Expect delays all the time. But we feel now’s not the time to be cynical. That’ll probably pick up again, oh, in the morning.

Just the other day, I was in a grocery store and remembered what a freaking joy it was each year to dream up what I wanted on my birthday cake. For me, it was things like the shark from Jaws or, more often than not, anything Star Wars-related. But this kid’s choice, well, takes the … cake?

BART.gov just launched a new revamped trip planner that uses the Google Maps API. Now there’s an address tab in the QuickPlanner that allows you to enter addresses (or cross streets) in addition to mere BART stations in order to plan your Bay Area trips more precisely.
