Eugenia Chien has been eavesdropping on the 47, 49, or 1 lines since the mid-90's. She lives by the adage, "Anything can happen on Muni" (and also, "That's not water.")

Muni/BART ‘Best’ Place to Meet Singles

Inner Richmond

Some people think Muni is the best to eat fried chicken, take a nap, or give yourself a manicure. But the San Francisco Chronicle thinks it’s actually the best place to get your flirt on. The paper presented 29 great spots for Bay Area singles, and Muni makes the list!

Thousands of Craigslist Missed Connections ads on Muni and pickup artist bootcamp can’t be wrong, right?

Making the moves on someone on Muni sounds awkward to me, but we know at least a few riders who met a cutie on the bus: Eric, Wil, and this mysterious note writer. What do you think? Should we get off OkCupid and start riding Muni more?

Sometimes it’s better to ride Muni with a buddy.

Slide for Commuters

Photo: newslite.tv

Dutch train passengers at the Overvecht Station can slide down into the train station if they’re late or just bored. Amy of Tiny Rides tipped us off to this fun bit of news from Holland, where this ‘transfer accelerator’ (slide) had been installed as “an alternative to stairs.”

Metro.co.uk has a video of a passenger sliding down to the train station.

I was expected the landing to be a little softer, but hey, it does look fun. Just imagine the liability issues if Muni installed a slide down to Powell station. I am guessing that we’ll have to go to Holland to slide into our commute.

Two Shot While Riding Muni Bus

Two Muni passengers were shot early Sunday morning in the city’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood, police said, according to a report from Bay City News via SF Appeal.

More from Bay City News/SFAppeal:

The shooting occurred aboard a Muni bus at Arleta and San Bruno avenues at around 1:15 a.m. The suspect, described as a black male, was not aboard the bus, according to police.

One victim was shot in the hand and the other suffered a gunshot wound to the neck.

Looks like the injuries are thus far not life-threatening.  We’ll keep you updated.

Weekend Photos: A Summer Moment

This week we received some really awesome donations of Fast Passes from you — thank you, and please keep ’em coming! It warms our hearts and keeps Heathered‘s sewing machine humming.

Want three fun things to do this weekend?

Here are some ideas:

  • Secession Art and Design happy hours!  Tonight the reception features Hilary Williams, a part of SF Marathon’s “Mile Marker Art Project.” Friday July 22, 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. 3361 Mission Street (and 30th St). Take Muni 14, 24, 36, 49.
  • Pitchapalooza: Pitch Your Book to a Panel of Experts. This Sunday, pitch your book at Pitchapalooza at the Rockit Room, in conjunction with Green Apple Books. Sunday July 24, 1 p.m., Rockit Room. 406 Clement Street (and 5th Ave). Take Muni 1, 2, 38, 44.
  • Get a post card sent to someone you like! Ed Casey, our @bartdiaries man, started the Post Card Project when he got sick of getting only junk mail and bills in the mail. Ask Ed to send a post card to a friend, and he’ll mail one for you, with a specifically designed task. Check out the post cards he’s sent so far!

Don’t forget, there may be some delays today due to the Giants game today, and construction starts on Monday in Bernal Heights, affecting the 14 and 49 lines.

Enjoy these photos and your weekend!

Lovely moment at the muni station despite all the crazies around me.
