Shoelace and Trashbag on Super Secure Muni Emergency Exit

Photo via Sergio CrazyPants Riccetti-Schubert

Sergio CrazyPants Riccetti-Schubert hipped us to this “interesting” sight:

That’s the emergency exit hatch on a 22 Fillmore bus being held closed with a plastic shopping bag and a shoelace.

You might remember the SFWeekly report earlier this summer that detailed the maintenance issues at Muni, where fixes included the use of garbage bags. Pretty good advertisement for Glad bags.

Thanks for dropping this off on the Muni Diaries Facebook page, Sergio!

Weekend Photos: Ready for My Close-Up

Take a closer look: can you tell where these Muni photos were taken? I love the different ways that photographers see our city through their lenses. And if the photos happen to star our favorite subject? Even better.

We’re less than a week away from our second live show of the year, where you can hear true and hilarious Muni stories on stage. We’re always amazed and honored to see so many of you at our shows, but we know that occasionally the shows can become as crowded as a 38-L in the morning. So this time we’re aiming to do a lot better in terms of crowd control — we’re getting more chairs and staffing the door better so you have more breathing room to hear funny transit tales and share a drink or three with your friends and fellow riders.

Tickets are on sale now, so grab yours. We can’t wait to see you!

Enjoy these photos and your weekend!

News: 9 Hurt in Collision That Pinned Car Between Muni Bus and Streetcar

Photo via Kai

Nine people were hurt in a collision in the Financial District that sandwiched a car between a Muni bus and a streetcar, CBS Local reports. Several of our sources were on the scene on Market and Battery and sent us these photos. The accident caused traffic delays and was reported around 12:20 p.m., according to SF Appeal.

emergency_in_sf tweeted a photo of the scene. Looks like the rear of the car got it pretty bad.

On Twitter, @RtothaG saw emergency personnel arrive at the scene.

Our own Laura of @caltraindiaries snapped this photo of the cleanup.

If you’re on the scene of this (or any other) Muni incidents, tweet at us at @munidiaries.
