New Muni Dedicated Lanes on Church Street Next Month

New lanes dedicated to Muni and taxicabs will be coming to Church Street in September, according to Streetsblog SF. The colored dedicated transit lanes will be on Church Street from 16th Street to Duboce.

From Streetsblog:

Following the T-Third line, it would be the second time San Francisco has used colored paint on transit-only lanes to help clarify that they’re off-limits to drivers — one of the practices used in cities like New York and London in recent years to make transit faster and more reliable.

The SFMTA will hold a public meeting next Monday, August 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Gazebo Room, CPMC Davies Campus, 45 Castro Street if you want to hear more about the plans.

Video: Caltrain Surprise Wedding Proposal

We just found Aaron’s rot-your-teeth-sweet wedding proposal on Caltrain! Aaron and Maggie actually first met on Caltrain in 2008. To propose to his special lady, Aaron packed a Caltrain car full of their friends and family for a super sweet surprise.

From Aaron: “After a month of scheming and trying to come up with an innocuous excuse for Maggie to ride on Caltrain, she decided to have a “Craft Day” with her painting buddies. Little did she know we had crafted another plan…

I had assembled friends and family to help celebrate my proposal to Maggie on Caltrain. At the 22nd St San Francisco station, we all began to sing “We Are Young” by Fun as Maggie boarded the car…”

The rest, as they say, is in the YouTube video!

New Adult Clipper Cards Will Cost $3 Starting in September

Starting Sept. 1, 2012, new adult Clipper cards will cost you $3. If you sign up for the Autoload feature online, Clipper will waive the $3 fee when you order, according to SFMTA.

Only the adult Clipper cards will have the new acquisition fee, while Youth and Senior Clipper cards will remain free.

You can read all the glorious details about the Clipper card fee in the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s press statement. But essentially: don’t lose your Clipper card unless you have an extra $3 handy.
