Eugenia Chien has been eavesdropping on the 47, 49, or 1 lines since the mid-90's. She lives by the adage, "Anything can happen on Muni" (and also, "That's not water.")

Getting to Folsom Street Today

I had to repost this very memorable photo we found in 2010 for the occasion. If you’re heading down to Folsom Street Fair today, remember that 9 San Bruno, 12 Folsom-Pacific, 19 Polk, and 47 Van Ness will be affected from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

More importantly, tweet us (or email us) the funny, hot, weird, or just out of the ordinary stories that happen while getting from point A to B.

Weekend Photos: Strangers We All Are

Today’s top photo features a compelling portrait of a Muni rider, my personal favorite type of Muni photos. For good reason: after all, what’s a Muni ride without your stories?

On a related note: have you seen Muni Diaries on the bus lately? Our 100 Days, 100 Muni Stories winning ads are being installed this week, so if you see them on your bus, be sure to Instagram or tweet it at us @munidiaries!

For as much gripe as we air on the site (have you see our gripe category yet?), the folks at SFMTA still said ok to giving us some space to feature some of your top tweets and stories. We’re very excited to see the winning tweets go up on the buses. We’ll reveal the winners on the site on Monday so stay tuned!

Enjoy these photos and your weekend!

Here’s Your iPhone Case Upgrade

Most people throw away their transfers, but not artist Faern, who we met last year. Faern has created some cool iphone cases from the lowly Muni transfer. You can get them at the dangerously addictive site, Society6.

Here’s one of her other designs.

Last year, we helped Faern source enough transfers to make other cool mixed media art.

p.s. Did you miss those Muni transfer Converse Chuck Taylors? You can really go all out on your public transit geekery. We encourage it.

Wanted Now: Converse x Muni

Today my worlds collide in this one pair of shoes. While Instagram-surfing the other day, I happened upon emilyville‘s picture of these beyond-cool Converse Chuck Taylors, designed by Alán González. Even if you’re not a transit geek, how can you not love the fact that Converse made these San Francisco-edition shoes?

You can get these bad boys at Shoe Biz. The nice guys at Shoe Biz told me that they didn’t have a lot of sizes left, so if you’re a big-footed girl like me you should probably step to it. The Converse City Collection also features two other styles featuring the Golden Gate Bridge and the Giants. Shoe Biz says that all proceeds go to providing housing for homeless families. Pretty cool.
