Five Muni Moments This Week

Please take a moment to admire this stunning picture by Jeremy Brooks. Done? Ok, here are five of the biggest moments that happened on Muni this week:

1. A Muni driver is brushing his teeth on the bus. Yay for dental hygiene?
2. A rider ran into her ex-boyfriend from Modesto with his “new boo” on the 14-Mission. I hope you were looking hot, girl.
3. Rider Kim got proposed to by an old man on Muni. “Would you marry me for my money? Think about it.” TEMPTING!
4. More things to do on the bus? Practicing your xylophone. True story.
5. Two guys in long trench coats recited a best-of version of Dr. Who episodes to kill time on the 38-Geary. I’d pay to see that.

This week’s Muni Moments were brought to you by @abadmeow, @1131991h, @kimsabi, @franoero, and @loveoz13. What are the big important moments in your life on Muni this week? Tweet it to us @munidiaries, won’t you please?

Black Out Nights on Muni

These photos of a night on Muni were cute enough without a story, but the way rider J-World found these pictures of himself was even better.

Met this random girl on Muni when I was going home late at night from the bars. I don’t remember this at all, but it looks like we are having fun and are best friends. I just woke up and found these photos in my phone. Umm….? I LOVE MUNI!

“Secret Agent” on the 1-California

Muni rider Nick C has a report of international security concerns on the 1-California:

One morning on the 1-California, heading inbound to downtown, a woman who thought she was some kind of secret agent boarded the bus. Two other women, one with a thick Russian accent and the other with a Chinese accent (who I assume were coworkers) were talking about something related their job. Ms. “Secret Agent” was starting to get nervous so she took out a toy walkie talkie and called in for some “backup.” She said, “We’re in need here of a Chinese and Russian assessment.” Whatever that means. Either she’s nuts or Muni is really starting to beef up their security.

See something, say something. Especially if it’s your job.

17 Choice Syllables About Muni From Anna Pulley

We saw one hell of a Muni Haiku Battle Saturday night between columnist Anna Pulley and writer James Nestor. Anna’s haikus were too good for you to miss, so here are her poems from the battle. There’s even a feisty title that digs at opponent James. I always find good trash talking totally irresistible, don’t you?

Where else would you erupt into an impromptu Rice-a-Roni sing-along? At Muni Diaries Live, of course! This time we packed in a queercore band, a great lineup of storytellers, plus a rematch of the Muni Haiku Battle. Here’s how it all went down.

Queercore band Lucky Jesus jump-started the show with a cover of Berlin’s “The Metro,” rewritten to fit San Francisco’s own crazy transit.
