Live Bus App At Your Fingertips
Here is a neat new app that displays live locations of Muni buses. Click SF Live Bus to see the little boxes moving around. Kind of mesmerizing. And useful.

Muni rider Erin overheard a charming exchange of cultures and languages on the 22-Fillmore the other night.
On the 22 to the Richmond late Saturday night, sitting next to thirty-something Hispanic woman. Twenty-something Chinese couple and white male friend get on the bus.
Chinese couple sits in front of us: “How’s your night going?”
Woman next to me: “Perdona, no entiendo.”
Chinese guy: “Hablas español? De donde es usted?”Cue conversation in Spanish in which I learn (eavesdropping) that the Chinese couple is out with their Spanish tutor, the white gentleman, and love the Spanish language.
Don’t know if they realized I understood anything, but I nearly laughed when Chinese guy told the Hispanic woman that Chinese people and people from Central America have a lot in common because they love spicy food, but white people don’t.
Such a random late night convo.
And such a reason to love San Francisco.

From @jeremysprague:
Firemen are going into the Embarcadero BART station. A small puff of smoke was seen, but other entrances don’t look blocked.
From @paulsfo, who took the photo above:
Embarcadero station closed! A lot of police and firefighters here

What if we all carried emoticon balloons that reflected our mood? Kind of like mood rings, but balloons. On that note, there were some positively grin-worthy moments on Muni this week, involving good etiquette and strategically worn pants.

Ok, so there was that whole horse/unicorn mask thing. Is this terror squirrel mask a thing now? Or maybe this is just a mask of a rabbit looking alarmed? Dramatic chipmunk, anyone? Read more

This is the kind of citation Muni inspectors would dole out in a fantasy, Haruki Murakami kind of world: “Four strangers unwillingly breathing each other’s air.” Drawings by Ugly Artistry on Tumblr, who also made a bunch of other cool drawings.
